Are you interested in learning about the basics of green home efficiency? The Home Energy Science microcredential provides you with the fundamental learnings of building science in the areas of heat, air, and moisture flow. You will learn about the procedures for insulating and sealing the business envelope and the various types of materials available and their effectiveness. Energy-efficient windows and doors, as well as basic knowledge of HVAC systems, are also covered in this course. Lastly, you will gain an understanding of the National Building Code requirements.

This training supports home and building retrofits to reduce energy consumption by focusing participants’ studies on the essentials of heat, air, and moisture flow, with basic knowledge needed to design and build durable, energy-efficient, affordable, and healthy buildings. Knowledge gained supports home improvement projects by increasing homeowners' and professional contractors’ basic understanding of heat or air loss and the steps to address the issue. The training also provides participants with information on testing techniques and procedures for insulating and sealing a building’s envelope. The course also addresses ways you can reduce energy waste and make buildings more comfortable and efficient. Whether a person has little time or money to spend, there is something they can do to save energy.
